Ajax close to loan deal for Nigerian striker Tolu Arokodare from Wolverhampton
Ajax and Wolverhampton Wanderers have reached an agreement for a season‑long loan of Nigerian forward Tolu Arokodare. The deal includes a non‑compulsory €22 million option to buy, with Ajax covering the player’s full salary and a loan fee. Arokodare, 25, joined Wolves last summer for €26 million from Belgian side KRC Genk and has made 36 appearances, scoring six goals. His time at Wolverhampton was marred by a training‑ground dispute that led to a cancelled session and security measures. Transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano announced the “Here we go” confirmation, noting that Ajax view the striker as a priority target and that he turned down offers from clubs in Turkey and Italy. The loan move is seen as a fresh start for Arokodare and a boost to Ajax’s attacking options ahead of the new season.
