Ajax faces Hajduk Split in Conference League opener

Ajax is set to begin its UEFA Conference League campaign with an away match against Hajduk Split in Croatia. This fixture marks a reunion for the two clubs, who faced each other multiple times in the 1990s during the Europa Cup II and Champions League competitions.

Hajduk Split enters the European competition following a significant domestic victory in the ‘Eternal Derby’ against Dinamo Zagreb. Hajduk secured a 2-1 win in a match that determined the top position in the league, with goals from Scott McKenna and Abdoulie Sanyang. The club currently maintains an undefeated home record this season and features former Eredivisie player Alec Van Hoorenbeeck.
