Hungarian striker Kovács Bendegúz extends AZ Alkmaar contract
Nineteen‑year‑old Hungarian forward Kovács Bendegúz has signed a new deal with Dutch club AZ Alkmaar, extending his contract to around mid‑2029. The extension follows a season in which he scored 14 goals in 14 youth league matches and added nine goals in six Youth League games, earning regular minutes with AZ’s first team. His performances also earned him a debut for Hungary’s national side in friendly matches against Finland and Kazakhstan.
Despite interest from several European clubs—including Ajax, Juventus, Borussia Dortmund and Chelsea—AZ confirmed the renewed agreement, aiming to retain the highly rated talent. The club’s statement highlighted Kovács’ development and the desire to keep him as a core part of their attacking options.
The contract renewal was reported by Hungarian, Dutch and international outlets, confirming that Kovács will continue his development at AZ while remaining a prospect for future moves abroad.
