Ajax completes transfer of Viktor Tsygankov from Girona

Ajax has officially completed the transfer of Ukrainian winger Viktor Tsygankov from Girona FC. The 28-year-old has signed a three-year contract that runs until mid-2029.

Financial details indicate a fixed transfer fee of approximately 3.5 million euros, which could rise to 4.5 million euros including bonuses. This figure is notably lower than Tsygankov’s estimated market value of 15 million euros. Under the agreement, Ajax will hold 90 percent of the player's transfer rights, while Girona retains 10 percent.

The move reunites Tsygankov with Ajax manager Míchel Sánchez, who previously coached him at Girona. Tsygankov, a versatile attacker capable of playing on both flanks or as a number 10, described the move as a ‘privilege’ despite noting that the preceding weeks had been difficult.

Reports from Girona suggest the transfer follows a period of tension, including disciplinary issues and the player's refusal to participate in certain pre-season activities. The acquisition is seen as a strategic move by Ajax technical director Jordi Cruijff to strengthen the squad's attacking options.
