Ajax draws 1-1 with VfL Bochum in preseason friendly

Ajax faced German side VfL Bochum in a pre‑season friendly at the De Toekomst training ground. The Dutch club took the lead early when new defender Caio Henrique scored from close range after a quick combination with Abdellah Ouazane and Oscar Gloukh. The match was levelled in the 91st minute when Ajax centre‑back Reverson inadvertently redirected a shot into his own net, resulting in a 1‑1 draw.

The line‑up featured Daley Blind returning to the starting XI alongside Anton Gaaei, Aaron Bouwman and the newly signed Caio Henrique. Young talents Jinairo Johnson and Abdellah Ouazane also featured, with Reverson kept as a substitute. The game was broadcast live on Ajax’s official channels, available worldwide except in Germany, Israel and Brazil. Ajax’s upcoming pre‑season programme includes fixtures against Olympiacos, Burnley and FC Volendam, and the club is finalising a partnership extension with Olympiacos until at least 2029.
