Ajax reports 2 million euro profit as director declines bonus

Ajax has reported a net profit of 2.0 million euros for the 2025/2026 financial year, marking a significant turnaround from the 37.3 million euro loss recorded the previous year. The club's net revenue increased by 10.2 million euros to 188.3 million euros, driven largely by higher European competition premiums.

Despite the improved financial standing, Ajax's general director, Menno Geelen, has voluntarily declined a portion of his allocated bonus. While the board of directors had awarded him a significant part of a potential 125,000 euro bonus for meeting organizational goals, Geelen stated that the decision did not outweigh the club's disappointing sporting performance and recent managerial changes.

On the pitch, the men's team finished fifth in the Eredivisie and failed to progress to the knockout stages of the UEFA Champions League. Additionally, the club has implemented organizational improvements, including reducing its non-playing and non-staff workforce from 240 to 228 full-time employees.
