Ajax striker Marcos Leonardo faces criticism from Ruud Gullit

Dutch football legend Ruud Gullit has criticized the performance of Brazilian striker Marcos Leonardo at Ajax. Despite a €20 million transfer fee, the attacker has struggled to meet expectations since arriving in the Netherlands.

In six appearances across the Eredivisie and Conference League, Marcos Leonardo has scored only one goal. Gullit expressed concern regarding the player's composure, stating, “I saw things in him (Marcos Leonardo) that made me think he gets scared when the ball comes toward him.” Gullit added that he felt “pity” when the player missed a significant chance.

Marcos Leonardo faces increasing competition for a starting position at Ajax. His immediate reserve, Tolu Arokodare, has recorded one goal and two assists in four matches, currently holding superior statistical numbers for the season.
