Ajax beats Vojvodina 4-1 in Conference League opening leg

Ajax opened their 2025/26 UEFA Conference League campaign with a dominant 4‑1 victory over Serbian side Vojvodina in the first leg of the second qualifying round in Novi Sad. Davy Klaassen opened the scoring in the third minute, followed by Steven Berghuis before the half‑hour mark, Oscar Gloukh after the break and teenager Mohamed Abdalla in stoppage time. Vojvodina’s sole reply came from Petar Sukacev in the 28th minute. The win marked the first competitive match for new Ajax manager Michel, who praised the team's performance and highlighted the contributions of young players such as Godts and Ouazane. Berghuis described the result as a “good first step” under the new coaching staff. Serbian media likened the creative play of midfielder Abdellah Ouazane to Lionel Messi. The Dutch side will host the second leg at the Johan Cruyff Arena next week to complete the tie.
