Ajay Devgn film Chauhaan reportedly undergoing political script rewrite

Reports suggest that the upcoming Ajay Devgn film, ‘Chauhaan’, is undergoing a script rewrite to adopt a more intense and confrontational political tone. Directed by Neeraj Yadav, the action entertainer is set in Kashmir and follows an Army officer amidst militant unrest. Originally conceived as a moderate political thriller, the film is reportedly being reworked to mirror the aggressive political themes seen in the film ‘Dhurandhar’.

The project has already encountered opposition from the Kshatriya Parishad, which objected to the perceived appropriation of Rajput history for contemporary political narratives. The group argued against reducing historical identities to modern communal binaries, though the filmmakers have not publicly addressed these claims.

In a related development regarding the film ‘Dhurandhar’, casting director Mukesh Chhabra revealed that Akshaye Khanna was not the initial choice for his role. Several major stars reportedly declined the part due to concerns over the ensemble cast and the director’s hiatus. Khanna reportedly accepted the villainous role immediately after hearing the story.
