Ajinkya Rahane urges BCCI to clarify Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli's future

Former Indian batsman Ajinkya Rahane has called on the BCCI to provide clarity regarding the future of senior players Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, specifically concerning their participation in the 2027 ODI World Cup.

Rahane argued that rather than subjecting these veteran players to constant debate based on individual series or recent strike rates, the board and team management should establish a long-term plan. He emphasized that Rohit Sharma's extensive experience would be vital for a major tournament like the World Cup, despite his age approaching 40 by the time the event occurs.

Furthermore, Rahane advocated for both players to be given the freedom to play without the pressure of constant uncertainty, stating that the team should support them if they intend to compete in 2027. He noted that while form can fluctuate, the talent and leadership provided by such experienced cricketers are indispensable to the national side.
