Ajit Agarkar will step down as the chairman of the BCCI men’s senior selection committee when his three-year tenure concludes on October 4. Agarkar, a former India all-rounder, informed the board on September 18 that he does not intend to seek a contract extension.

BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia stated that the board has sufficient time to manage the transition and will make a decision regarding the vacant position after the current contract expires. Once a successor is chosen, the BCCI will announce the decision publicly. Agarkar’s term, which began in July 2023, included India’s 2024 T20 World Cup victory and the 2025 Champions Trophy title.
