Ajmer Central Jail video call scandal raises prison security concerns

A video that appeared to show three inmates at Ajmer Central Jail speaking with an external individual via a video call has gone viral, prompting questions about security protocols in Indian prisons. The footage allegedly shows the current jailer, Sadam Hussain, using his personal mobile phone to connect the prisoners with Nafis Chishti, a figure linked to a 1992 blackmail case. Prison officials have said the video is under investigation and that any confirmed breach would be treated as a serious offense.

Separately, a fact‑checking investigation revealed that a video circulating online and claimed to depict a student protest in Ranchi was actually recorded at Binod Bihari Mahato Koylanchal University in Dhanbad. The footage shows members of the All India Students Association staging a sit‑in to demand solutions to campus issues. The misattribution was identified through frame analysis and cross‑checking with original uploads, highlighting ongoing challenges with misinformation on social media in India.
