Unal Üstel addresses opposition and election readiness in Northern Cyprus
Unal Üstel, Prime Minister of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) and leader of the National Unity Party (UBP), has addressed opposition claims during consultation meetings in Dikmen, Çatalköy, and Karşıyaka. Responding to calls for accountability, Üstel proposed the establishment of a committee to review actions taken since 2020, asserting that the government is prepared to be held accountable.
Ahead of the general and local elections scheduled for December 6, Üstel expressed confidence that the UBP will emerge as a strong government to maintain stability. He noted that the party is preparing to run candidates in 18 municipalities and emphasized a focus on concrete projects and public service rather than mere criticism.
Additionally, Üstel reiterated a target of constructing 15,000 housing units to assist young people in establishing futures within the country. He also criticized certain municipalities for allegedly claiming credit for government-funded investments.
