AK Party issues ‘Terror-Free Turkey’ strategic briefing
The AK Party has distributed a nine-page briefing note titled ‘Terror-Free Turkey and Terror-Free Region’ to all party members, including MKYK members, MPs, and mayors. Prepared under the instructions of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, the document outlines a strategic state project aimed at establishing Turkey as a regional and global power by eliminating terrorism.
The briefing clarifies that the process is neither a negotiation nor a general amnesty. It explicitly addresses public speculation regarding Abdullah Öcalan, stating that current legal frameworks do not provide for a ‘right to hope’ or general amnesty, particularly for aggravated life sentences issued before June 1, 2005.
The document establishes three ‘red lines’ that the party must not compromise on: the fundamental principles of the state, the indivisible integrity of the Republic of Turkey, and the sensitivities of martyrs and veterans. Party members are instructed to adopt an inclusive and unifying language when communicating this new vision to the public.
