AK Plaza Suwon opens Poptopia IP content hub

AK Plaza Suwon has officially launched ‘Poptopia’, a large-scale specialized space for intellectual property (IP) content located in the southern Gyeonggi region. Spanning approximately 600 pyeong (roughly 20,000 square feet) on the fifth floor, the area is designed as a hub for kidult and subculture enthusiasts.

The project builds on the success of the ‘AK Hongdae Project’ and aims to create a comprehensive content belt. Key tenants include the first Gyeonggi-area branch of the animation specialty store ‘Animate’, alongside ‘Gundam Base’, ‘Ichibankuji’, ‘Gashapon Street’, and ‘SMG Store’. These join existing retailers like ‘Dotori Forest’ and ‘Tamiya’ to offer a wide range of products, including figures, plastic models, and character goods.

AK Plaza plans to evolve Poptopia by continuously introducing new brands and IP, with additional new brands scheduled for introduction in December. The company intends to use the Suwon branch as a core hub for its IP-specialized strategy, with plans to expand this approach to other locations.
