Akçaabat Municipality produces own seasonal flowers to reduce costs
The Akçaabat Municipality in Trabzon, Turkey, has implemented a self-sufficiency model for urban landscaping by producing its own seasonal flowers. For approximately three years, the municipality has utilized its own production areas to grow the flowers required for parks, gardens, medians, and green spaces.
This initiative aims to increase the efficiency of municipal resources and reduce reliance on external suppliers. By managing the entire process from seedling development to planting, municipal teams can tailor production to specific needs while significantly lowering costs. Akçaabat Mayor Osman Nuri Ekim noted that this approach has become an integral part of the municipality’s service model, contributing to both budget savings and the aesthetic improvement of the district.
