Akaflieg summer meeting held at EDOV airfield

The annual Idaflieg summer meeting took place at the EDOV airfield in Stendal-Borstel, bringing together members of Akafliegs from across Germany to work on various flying and non-flying projects.

A key component of the event was ‘Zachern’, a form of scientific flight aimed at determining the characteristics and performance of gliders. This included flight surveys conducted in cooperation with the German Aerospace Center (DLR). Specific aircraft involved in testing included the SB 14, a Duo Discus used for a special project regarding digital flight data recording, and a Jodel aircraft used for towing.

Other aircraft participating in the towing operations included the DR 400 from the DLR and the FVA, as well as a DR 300.
