Akagi-yama Futokoro introduces new pet-friendly rooms with private dog runs
The dog-friendly traditional house retreat, Akagi-yama Futokoro, located in Maebashi, Gunma Prefecture, has announced the launch of new guest rooms featuring private dog runs. Available starting October 1, 2026, these two Superior Plus Japanese-style twin rooms measure 33 square meters and face a courtyard.
The new rooms are designed to allow guests to access the outdoor wood-chip dog runs directly from their rooms, providing a private space for pets. The facility offers various amenities for dogs, including wipes, towels, mats, and steps. All 14 rooms at the retreat are pet-friendly, accommodating dogs over six months old that weigh up to 25kg and stand under 50cm in height.
Guests can also dine with their pets in the restaurant, which serves seasonal kaiseki cuisine. Autumn menus feature ingredients such as maple trout and various mushrooms, while winter menus highlight local specialties like Shimonita onions and duck.
