Akai Professional launches MPK Mini Plus II MIDI keyboard

Akai Professional has announced the release of the MPK Mini Plus II, the next generation of its compact 37-key MIDI keyboard controller. Priced at $169, the new model features an upgraded keybed and eight RGB MPC pads that are sensitive to both velocity and pressure.

Key hardware updates include a new 160 x 80 full-color display designed to show parameter controls, pitch and modulation wheels, eight 360-degree knobs, and transport controls. The device offers versatile connectivity, including USB-C bus power, five-pin MIDI out, and three CV/Gate outputs for integration with modular synthesizers and outboard gear.

The controller introduces several new creative tools, such as Glitch, Mutate, Strum, Freeze, and Follow, alongside an expanded arpeggiator and Chord Creator. It provides deep integration with MPC Standalone and MPC Desktop, as well as scripted control for various digital audio workstations including Ableton Live, Logic Pro, FL Studio, and Cubase.
