Akal Takht Jathedar condemns Rajasthan Police action in Gurdwara
The Jathedar of Akal Takht Sahib, Giani Kuldip Singh Gargajj, has condemned recent actions by the Rajasthan Police inside Gurdwara Baba Deep Singh in Sri Ganganagar. Gargajj stated that the police intervention hurt Sikh sentiments and the sanctity of the Gurdwara.
Reports indicate that police personnel damaged food supplies in the Gurdwara’s langar, vandalized property, and tore posters featuring photographs of Sant Giani Jarnail Singh Khalsa Bhindranwale and other Shaheed Sikhs. Additionally, local Sikh leader Tejinderpal Singh was arrested during the incident.
Gargajj has called for an impartial inquiry by the Rajasthan chief minister and demanded the immediate release of Tejinderpal Singh. He emphasized that any police action should have followed Sikh religious protocol and lawful procedures rather than involving vandalism within a religious site. A Sikh delegation led by Takht Damdama Sahib Jathedar Giani Tek Singh has inspected the site and confirmed the objectionable nature of the police actions.
