Akamai expands security through Chainguard coalition and MuleSoft integration

Akamai has expanded its security capabilities through new strategic partnerships and technical integrations. The company has joined Chainguard’s Athena Coalition as a Mitigation Partner to enhance software supply chain security. Through this collaboration, Akamai will receive advanced, embargoed vulnerability data to help protect against threats affecting web applications and APIs.

Additionally, Akamai has expanded its technical partnership with MuleSoft to integrate Akamai API Security intelligence with MuleSoft’s Agent Fabric. This integration aims to extend governance across APIs, AI agents, and MCP servers. By establishing a bidirectional data synchronization layer, the platforms allow for better visibility into undocumented endpoints and the elimination of security blind spots caused by shadow AI or unmonitored APIs. The integration is currently available and has already been adopted by more than 20 joint customers.
