Golf: Sakuma wins Tokai Classic playoff; Naito sets ANA Open record
In recent professional golf developments, Akari Sakuma secured her third victory of the season at the Sumitomo Life Vitality Ladies Tokai Classic. After finishing tied with Sora Kamiya at 13 under par, Sakuma won the title in a playoff.
On the men's tour, Kentaro Naito claimed victory at the ANA Open in Hokkaido. Naito finished at 25 under par, setting a new tournament record and becoming the first golfer from Fukushima Prefecture to win a tour event. His victory comes 22 years and 339 days after his amateur debut, marking the longest duration between debut and first win in tour history.
Meanwhile, Hinako Shibuno faced challenges at the Sumitomo Life Vitality Ladies Tokai Classic, recording a missed cut. This marks her fifth consecutive missed cut across both Japanese and U.S. tours. Despite the recent slump, she is expected to secure a semi-seed for next season based on her current points ranking.
