Akasa Air expands fleet to 42 aircraft with new Boeing 737 MAX

Akasa Air has expanded its operational fleet to 42 aircraft with the induction of a Boeing 737 MAX 8-200. The aircraft, registered as VT-YBS, arrived at the Navi Mumbai International Airport on September 1. This marks the airline’s eleventh aircraft induction in calendar year 2026.

The new aircraft was purpose-built to the airline's specifications and features Safran Z200 seating, which includes a four-inch recline, contoured backrests, and USB-C and USB-A charging ports. The delivery flight for this aircraft spanned multiple locations, including Seattle, Reykjavik, Cairo, and Bengaluru.

Akasa Air maintains a significant long-term growth strategy, holding a firm order for 226 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft, with 186 additional deliveries scheduled over the next six years. The airline aims to become one of the top 30 airlines globally by the end of the decade.
