Akasa Air signs sale-and-leaseback deal with Avolon for seven Boeing jets

Akasa Air has entered into a sale-and-leaseback agreement with Dublin-based lessor Avolon for up to seven Boeing 737-8-200 aircraft. This marks the third transaction between the Indian carrier and the leasing company.

The Boeing 737-8-200 is a high-density variant of the 737 MAX 8, designed to accommodate more passengers through an additional pair of emergency exits. Akasa Air currently operates 17 of these aircraft, typically configured with 197 seats.

Through this sale-and-leaseback arrangement, Akasa Air sells the aircraft to Avolon and immediately leases them back, allowing the airline to raise capital for other uses while maintaining its fleet operations. Akasa Air has built its entire fleet around the Boeing 737 MAX and holds a significant orderbook of 226 aircraft with Boeing.
