Mayawati reappoints Akash Anand as BSP national convenor

Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief Mayawati has reappointed her nephew, Akash Anand, as the party's national convenor. This decision reverses her recent decision to oust him from the party following internal friction and concerns that he had prioritized personal interests over the organization.

Mayawati announced the reinstatement via social media, stating the move was made in the interest of the party and the Bahujan movement after careful consideration. She noted changes in Anand's personality and working style, citing his recent public apology and request for reinstatement as evidence of this shift. The decision follows the retirement of Anand's father-in-law, Ashok Siddharth, from politics.

Anand expressed his gratitude to Mayawati, stating he would work with discipline and loyalty to strengthen the organization. While Anand returns to his former role, his younger brother, Ishan Anand, has expressed a willingness to serve the party under Mayawati's guidance without holding a formal position. The party is currently preparing for the 2027 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections.
