Akashi T3 Terrace to host local festivals and underwater sake aging trial

Akashi T3 Terrace in Akashi City will host several community and experiential events in October 2026.

On October 10 and 11, the “Ennichi Hyogo Akashi 2026” festival will take place. The event features local specialty booths, handmade goods from welfare workshops, stage performances including dance and traditional drumming, and various activities such as a mobile aquarium, animal encounters, and workshops.

On October 17, a trial for the “Akashi Strait Underwater Sake Aging Project” will be held as part of a marine conservation learning experience. Co-organized by Shinki Bus Co., Ltd., the project allows 50 participants to select sake from Hyogo breweries, perform a wax-sealing workshop, and submerge the bottles in the Akashi Sea. The bottles will be aged underwater for approximately five months before being retrieved in the spring of 2027 for inspection and consumption. This trial aims to test the feasibility of underwater aging as a regional tourism and commercial product.
