Akatsuki to open pop culture collaboration building in Taipei

Akatsuki Inc. and its subsidiary, Akatsuki Taiwan Inc., have announced the July 2026 opening of ‘A-BASE,’ a permanent collaboration building dedicated to pop culture intellectual property (IP) in the Ximending district of Taipei, Taiwan.

Located near the Ximen MRT station, the multi-floor facility aims to recreate the atmosphere of Tokyo’s Akihabara district. The venue will offer immersive entertainment experiences, including themed dining and official licensed merchandise sales. A key feature is the debut of ‘22 Curry,’ a popular Akihabara-based specialty restaurant, which will establish its first permanent location in Taiwan to provide IP-themed culinary experiences.

A-BASE is intended to serve as a strategic hub for IP holders to reach fans in Taiwan. The company plans to use data from the Taipei location to support broader expansion, including pop-up stores in cities like Taichung and Kaohsiung, e-commerce integration, and distribution through local convenience stores and retail networks.
