Akçay–Midilli sea bus line reaches 95 percent occupancy in first month

The BADO Akçay–Midilli sea bus line, operated by Balıkesir Toplu Taşıma AŞ (BTT), has reported high demand during its first month of operation. Following the initiative of Balıkesir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ahmet Akın, the service resumed after a 27-year hiatus, utilizing the renovated Akçayport.

Data released by BTT indicates that the line reached a 95 percent occupancy rate, with a single one-way trip carrying a record 412 passengers. The service facilitates travel both from Akçay to Mytilene and from Mytilene to the Edremit Gulf region in Balıkesir.

Mustafa Ömür Boyuer, General Manager of BTT, stated that interest has exceeded initial feasibility studies. He noted that the line serves as a vital connection to strengthen Balıkesir’s tourism potential and is expected to boost the local economy in the Edremit and Akçay areas.
