AKB48 launches new theater show “Dream no Pop Star” in Tokyo

On 7 August 2026, AKB48 opened a new theater production titled “Dream no Pop Star” at its Akihabara theater in Tokyo. The opening featured eight selected members—Kuranoo Narumi, Yamaguchi Yui, and six others—performing songs from the group’s 20‑year repertoire.

Group director Kuranoo, a native of Kumamoto, and Yamaguchi, from Nagasaki, highlighted the performance of “365 Nichi no Kamihikōki,” which they had previously presented on TV to support victims of the Kumamoto earthquake, saying the song gave encouragement. The program also included tracks such as “Get You!” and “偶然の十字路,” underscoring the show’s focus on singing and dancing as AKB48’s core activity.
