Akbank featured in UN report for supporting women-led SMEs

Akbank has been featured as the sole case study from Turkey in a global report by the United Nations Environment Programme Finance Initiative (UNEP FI). The report evaluates progress regarding the Principles for Responsible Banking's Financial Health and Inclusion Commitment for the 2021-2026 period.

The case study highlights Akbank’s holistic approach to supporting small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) led by women. This model combines financial solutions with growth support through the ‘Women SME Package’ and the Akbank Transformation Academy. The academy provides training in areas such as foreign trade, digital marketing, e-commerce, and sustainability to over 22,000 businesses.

Akbank General Manager Kaan Gür stated that the bank aims to provide access to knowledge and competence beyond mere financing, noting that the strengthening of women in the business world is vital for economic growth and inclusive development.
