Akbank renews syndication loan with $542 million equivalent

Akbank has renewed its syndication loan due in October with a new facility totaling the equivalent of $542 million. The credit is structured into six tranches with maturities of 1, 2, and 3 years, utilizing both US dollar and euro currencies.

Interest rates for the tranches were set as follows: - 1-year tranches: SOFR + 1.25% for USD and Euribor + 1.00% for EUR. - 2-year tranches: SOFR + 1.75% for USD and Euribor + 1.45% for EUR. - 3-year tranche: SOFR + 2.00% for USD.

The 2-year and 3-year tranches are designated for use under Akbank’s Sustainable Finance Framework. The transaction saw significant international interest, with 37 banks from 19 countries submitting total bids exceeding $891 million.

Akbank General Manager Kaan Gür stated that the renewal of the 1-year tranche at 107% of its previous value and the strong demand for longer maturities demonstrate sustained international investor confidence in the bank and the Turkish banking sector.
