Akbar Abdi's family installs new tombstone as Tehran approves street renaming

The family of late Iranian actor Akbar Abdi has installed a new tombstone at his grave in the artists' section of Behesht-e Zahra cemetery. The new stone, commissioned by his daughter Elmira Abdi, features the inscription “I came, I made them laugh, and I left.” This replaces a previous stone provided by fans.

In addition to the memorial update, the Tehran City Council has approved a proposal to rename ‘Bidar’ Street in District 1 of Tehran to Akbar Abdi Street. Abdi, a prominent figure in Iranian cinema, theater, and television, passed away at age 66 after a period of illness. He left behind a career spanning over 100 works, including notable films such as ‘The Man Who Became a Mouse,’ ‘The Tenants,’ ‘Mother,’ and ‘The Outcasts.’
