Akşehir highlighted for strategic role in Turkish War of Independence

During a history lecture in Akşehir, historian and author Sinan Meydan emphasized the town's strategic importance during the Turkish War of Independence. Meydan noted that Akşehir served as a vital preparation center and strategic base for the Great Offensive, describing the region as the 'brain and heart' of the struggle.

Akşehir Mayor Dr. A. Nuri Köksal also spoke on the occasion, highlighting the town's geographical strategy and the high level of national consciousness among its people. Köksal stated that the reliability and patriotism of the local population were decisive factors in selecting the area as a headquarters during critical historical moments.
