Aker BP starts production at Skarv Satellite Project ahead of schedule

Aker BP has commenced production from the Skarv Satellite Project in the Norwegian Sea, bringing the Alve Nord, Idun Nord, and Ørn fields online approximately one year ahead of the original schedule.

The project consists of three separate subsea developments that utilize subsea templates and wells tied back to the existing Skarv floating production, storage, and offloading (FPSO) vessel. These developments represent approximately 120 million barrels of oil equivalent in recoverable resources. The integration is expected to extend the operational life of the Skarv infrastructure and contribute a significant portion of the company’s production in that area.

The project reports a low carbon dioxide intensity of approximately 4.5 kg CO2 per barrel of oil equivalent. Aker BP utilized an alliance model involving partners such as OneSubsea, Subsea7, Aker Solutions, and Halliburton, with Saipem participating in the drilling phase. Roughly 60% of the project deliveries were provided by Norwegian suppliers.
