Akhilesh Yadav challenges official GDP growth claims

Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav has criticized the BJP-led Central and state governments, arguing that official GDP growth projections do not reflect the economic reality of citizens. Speaking in Bidhuna, Uttar Pradesh, the former Chief Minister claimed that rampant unemployment, high inflation, and rising fuel costs suggest that actual growth may be near zero.

Yadav asserted that economic metrics should align with lived experiences, noting that the current state of the economy feels stagnant. He also highlighted deteriorating civic infrastructure in the region, citing issues such as incomplete road projects, potholes, and the degradation of emergency services like the ambulance and Dial 100 police services.
