Akhilesh Yadav rally in Saharanpur postponed amid SP-RLD tension
Political tensions between the Samajwadi Party (SP) and the Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) have escalated in Western Uttar Pradesh following the cancellation of Akhilesh Yadav’s ‘Yuva Yoddha Sammelan’ rally in Saharanpur, originally scheduled for September 6.
SP organizers, including National General Secretary Chaudhary Rudrasen, attributed the postponement to weather alerts and the possibility of heavy rainfall, suggesting the event may be rescheduled for late October or early November. However, the RLD has contested this reasoning, claiming the rally was cancelled due to widespread local opposition.
The RLD alleges that 36 communities in Western Uttar Pradesh have decided to boycott the SP rally in protest of comments made by Akhilesh Yadav regarding the Chaudhary family. The dispute stems from a remark comparing a ‘chavanni’ (quarter anna) to a ‘rupay’ (rupee) in relation to Jayant Chaudhary, which the RLD claims insulted the dignity of the Jat community. RLD spokesperson Rohit Agarwal stated that the party would not allow the Samajwadi Party to operate in the region if such insults toward the Chaudhary family continue.
