Akhilesh Yadav meets Azam Khan in Rampur Jail
Samajwadi Party national president Akhilesh Yadav visited senior leader Azam Khan at Rampur District Jail on Thursday. The meeting, which lasted over an hour, included discussions with Khan and his son, Abdullah Azam.
Following the visit, Yadav criticized the ruling BJP and local administration, alleging that the spirit of 'Ram Rajya' is being crushed in Rampur. He accused corrupt officials of using fabricated cases to target political opponents and asserted that Azam Khan’s political identity remains intact despite his legal challenges.
Azam Khan’s family members also met with Yadav at his residence. Dr. Tazeen Fatima, Khan’s wife, described the interaction as a family matter rather than a political one, stating that Yadav views Khan as a father figure. She noted that the party would make decisions regarding election tickets based on consultation with Khan.
In response, BJP leaders have condemned the meeting, characterizing it as an attempt to revive an era of lawlessness and appeasement. They argued that the Samajwadi Party is attempting to consolidate specific voter bases ahead of future elections.
