Aki Takase and Japanic to perform at Istanbul's CRR

Japanese pianist and composer Aki Takase will perform for the first time in Istanbul with her quintet, Japanic, on Wednesday, October 21, at the İBB Cemal Reşit Rey Concert Hall (CRR).

Takase, who received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the German Jazz Awards (Deutscher Jazzpreis), has been based in Berlin since the late 1980s. Her musical style blends jazz rhythms with hip-hop and free improvisation, utilizing piano, saxophone, and turntables.

The quintet includes saxophonist Daniel Erdmann, DJ Illvibe (Vincent von Schlippenbach), bassist Johannes Fink, and Norwegian drummer Dag Magnus Narvesen. The group has received international acclaim for albums such as ‘Thema Prima’ and ‘Forte’.
