Akina Nakamori performs on NHK music special

Singer Akina Nakamori appeared on the NHK music program ‘SONGS Special: Akina Nakamori ~Akina All Time Best~’ on October 24. The program featured archival footage from her debut in 1982 and included live performances of songs such as ‘Kita Wing-CLASSIC’, ‘TATTOO’, and ‘Gomen to, Suki to,’. This marked her first performance at an NHK studio in 17 years.

During the broadcast, Nakamori reflected on her musical history, specifically discussing the song ‘Nanpashin’. She noted that after winning the Japan Record Award in 1985 and 1986, she felt the song ‘Nanpashin’ was one she was meant to sing, though it did not lead to a third consecutive award. She expressed deep gratitude to songwriter Tokiko Kato for the opportunity to perform the piece.

Nakamori’s performance and stage attire also drew significant attention on social media. Following her recent appearances on programs like ‘Music Station’, her steady performance on NHK is seen as a sign of her overcoming previous difficulties with television appearances and stage nerves.
