Akis Pavlopoulos joins ANT1, ending SKAI morning duo

Akis Pavlopoulos, a long‑time journalist on SKAI’s morning news program, has agreed to move to the rival channel ANT1. The recruitment was carried out by ANT1’s news director Vasilis Papadrosos, and the broadcaster offered Pavlopoulos a key role in its upcoming season.

SKAI attempted to retain the presenter by proposing a renewal, but Pavlopoulos chose to leave. His co‑host, Dimitris Oikonomou, will stay at SKAI, as his contract runs until 2027 and contains clauses that prevent an immediate transfer. The split ends a four‑year on‑air partnership that had become a staple of Greek morning television.

The personnel change is expected to reshape the competitive landscape of Greek morning news, with ANT1 aiming to strengthen its daytime ratings while SKAI adjusts its lineup.
