Akis Skertsos disputes Alexis Tsipras over HEDNO investments

Greek Minister of State Akis Skertsos has issued a sharp rebuttal to former Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras regarding the management of the Hellenic Electricity Distribution Network Operator (HEDNO). The dispute arose following Tsipras's questioning of where the increased revenues of the network operator are being directed and why investments appear insufficient.

Skertsos countered these claims by presenting specific financial data, asserting that investments in network upgrades have quadrupled since 2019. He stated that annual investments now exceed €1.5 billion, compared to approximately €400 million in 2019. Additionally, Skertsos noted that the rate of undergrounding power lines has increased eightfold since 2019, rising from 200 kilometers per year to current levels.

The Minister characterized Tsipras's statements as “lies or inaccuracies,” accusing the former Prime Minister of being “incorrigible.” Skertsos further argued that energy infrastructure investments in Greece have increased by 5.9% of GDP, while they have decreased by 2% in comparison countries.
