Akita business sentiment declines for third consecutive period

The Bank of Japan Akita Branch released its September Short-term Economic Survey of Enterprises in Japan (Tankan), revealing that business sentiment among companies in Akita Prefecture has worsened for the third consecutive period.

The Diffusion Index (DI) for all industries fell to minus 5, a 3-point decline from the previous survey in June. This ongoing deterioration is attributed to difficulties in procuring materials and rising costs caused by prolonged instability in the Middle East.
