Akita Disaster Prevention Camp Festival held in Akita City

The 7th Akita Disaster Prevention Camp Festival is being held on September 5 and 6 at the grounds and buildings of the Japanese Red Cross Tohoku College of Nursing and its affiliated junior college in Akita City.

The event features various activities designed to deepen public understanding of disaster preparedness through hands-on experiences. Highlights include workshops for making disaster prevention goods, quizzes, and lectures. Attendees can view and purchase outdoor equipment, and emergency vehicles from the police, fire department, and Self-Defense Forces are on display.

Specific programming includes sessions on pet disaster prevention, a lecture on starting disaster preparedness easily, and a talk regarding engagement with disaster-affected areas during recovery periods. The festival also includes family-friendly amenities such as a dog run, a kids' play area, and food trucks.
