Akita Prefecture seeks public input on bear countermeasures and other policies
The Akita Prefectural Assembly is soliciting public opinions on six key policy themes to inform future legislative reviews and policy recommendations. The call for input, which runs until August 14, includes bear damage countermeasures, regional public transportation such as buses and trains, stadium development for local revitalization, information dissemination regarding assembly activities for the next generation, smartphone usage among children, and the management of specific airports and ports.
In a separate development related to wildlife management, the company Kuma no Taira Kikaku, based in Kitaakita City, donated approximately 2.1 million yen to Akita Prefecture. The funds, raised through crowdfunding, are intended to support measures to mitigate bear-related damage.
