Akor Adams calls for Nigeria recovery after Guinea-Bissau defeat
Nigeria's Super Eagles forward Akor Adams has stated that the team must respond quickly following a 3-0 defeat to Guinea-Bissau in the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers. The loss, which took place at the September 24 Stadium in Bissau, leaves Nigeria with three points from their first two qualifying matches after an initial 2-1 victory over Madagascar.
Adams emphasized that the squad has accepted responsibility for the performance and is working to correct the issues exposed during the match. While he expressed dissatisfaction with the quality of the playing surface at the September 24 Stadium, noting that a good pitch should be ‘the bare minimum for African football’, he explicitly rejected using the pitch conditions as an excuse for the loss. He maintained that as professionals, the players must be capable of performing regardless of weather, officiating, or environmental circumstances.
