Čakovec invests 2.5 million euros in SRC Mladost revitalization

The city of Čakovec is progressing with a major urban revitalization project titled ‘ITU – Revitalization of the 3rd Zone of Active Living’. The project, valued at nearly 2.5 million euros, aims to transform the southern part of the SRC Mladost sports center into a modern sports, recreational, and social hub.

Located adjacent to the Marija Ružić City Pools, the development includes a new parking lot with 165 spaces, internal roads, and solar-powered canopies to provide sustainable infrastructure. Key features of the site will include an amphitheater with a stage for concerts and cinema screenings, a new promenade, an outdoor gym, a large children's playground, a dog park, picnic areas, a yoga park, an aromatic garden, and a sledding hill.

To promote energy efficiency, the area will be equipped with smart solutions such as solar trees, solar benches, information totems, and solar lighting. Mayor Ljerka Cividini, who recently inspected the site, described the project as one of the city’s most ambitious investments in public space. Construction is currently in the realization phase, with earthworks completed and reinforced concrete work on the amphitheater stands underway.
