AKP declines to form parliamentary commission over fund scandal
The AKP has reportedly decided against submitting a motion to the Turkish Parliament to establish a Research Commission regarding a recent fund scandal. While the opposition is expected to submit such a motion this week, AKP officials have indicated that the judiciary and the State Supervisory Council are already conducting investigations, rendering a parliamentary commission unnecessary.
Simultaneously, the Fund Coordination Board held its second meeting, chaired by Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz. The meeting included high-ranking officials such as Treasury and Finance Minister Mehmet Şimşek and Justice Minister Akın Gürlek. However, the presence of senior AKP officials, including AKP Group Chairman Abdullah Güler and AKP Deputy Chairman Mustafa Elitaş, has drawn criticism. Diyarbakır MP Sezgin Tanrıkulu questioned the composition of the board, asking why political party executives were participating in meetings of what appears to be a state institution.
