Çakırlar Village hosts 4th annual Traditional Patpat Festival

The fourth annual Traditional Patpat Festival was held in Çakırlar Village, located in the İzmit district of Kocaeli. The event featured a colorful convoy of decorated 'patpat' vehicles, a tradition that began several years ago when a group of friends started decorating their own vehicles.

In addition to the vehicle parade, the festival focused on preserving local heritage. Activities included demonstrations of traditional tasks such as using a 250-year-old mortar stone (dibek) for pounding and processing bulgur. These demonstrations were specifically designed to teach children about the customs and traditions of the village.

Sedat Karagöz, President of the Çakırlar Village Association, stated that the festival aims to bridge the gap between generations and ensure that children understand their local culture and customs through hands-on experience.
