Akron Zips let season ticket holder call opening drive

The University of Akron's football program announced a promotion that allows one season‑ticket holder to act as the "offensive coordinator of the game" and script the opening drive of its home opener against Robert Morris University on Sept. 12, 2026. The contest, launched on Aug. 4, gives each season ticket an entry, with additional entries for referrals, and the winner will be announced on Aug. 19. The selected fan will work directly with head coach Joe Moorhead to design the first series of plays.

Akron officials said the initiative is intended to boost ticket sales and give fans a unique behind‑the‑scenes experience. Director of athletics Dr. Andrew T. Goodrich called the promotion "something never done before anywhere" and emphasized its role in bringing supporters closer to the program.
