Aksa Enerji builds 825 MW gas plant in Takoradi, Ghana

Aksa Enerji signed a 20‑year, US‑dollar‑based power purchase agreement with the Electricity Company of Ghana to construct an 825 MW combined‑cycle natural‑gas power plant in the Takoradi industrial region. The project will be one of the largest gas‑fuelled investments in Ghana and, once operational, will raise Aksa Enerji’s total installed capacity in the country to 1,545 MW.

The new plant is part of Aksa’s broader African strategy, which will bring the company’s continental capacity to about 2,240 MW across Ghana, Senegal, Gabon and Burkina Faso, and increase its global portfolio to over 3,500 MW. CEO Naci Ağbal highlighted the plant’s role in strengthening Ghana’s energy security, creating local jobs and supporting long‑term industrial growth, describing Ghana as a strategic long‑term partner for the firm.
